Clarendon Guest House started as an orphanage in 1918. In 1933 Lord and Lady Clarendon, Governor General of the Union of South Africa visited Ugie and the Houses for Orphans. During a ceremony a memorial tablet was unveiled to commemorate their visit. The Orphanage moved into a new building complex in 1962. Clarendon Guest House has had several owners since then. We cordially invite you to spend a few nights in this historical building. We offer you old-world elegance with modern facilities. Fully equipped kitchen, DSTV, hair driers, fans and heaters in en-suite rooms. Breakfast, dinner, lunch packs and secure parking available.

We are 2.5km outside Mthatha on the R61 (main road to Port St Johns). The Country Lodge is set in a pretty country garden bordered by two rivers and overlooking a dam. We have 10 rooms with en suite showers and toilets, TVs and tea/coffee making facilities. We offer breakfast and dinner is an optional extra on an a la carte basis.
